Tip! If you don't have a microphone hooked up to computer, you can import an existing narration by selecting Object>Import>Sound, navigating to and opening the Workshop Content/Music folder and choosing narration.wav.

1. In the Sequencer window, click and drag the blue arrow to the right; about where the 2nd movie begins. This changes the "Current Time" value. You can also fast forward to any place in your Scene using the Control Panel. This is commonly referred to as "scrubbing" (Figure 1).

2. From the Main Tools palette, click the Sound Tool icon Sound Tool Icon.

3. Click the Record button Sound Tool Record Button highlightedand speak a few seconds into your microphone.

"This is the famous inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, going to work."

4. Click the Stop button Sound Tool Stop Button and then click the Play button Sound Tool Play Button to review your recording. Re-record or edit as desired.

5. When satisfied with your recording, from Sound's main menu, select File>Send to Author. This places the recording at the Current Time (the location of the blue arrow) and quits the Sound Tool to free up memory.

6. Play Scene-2 by clicking the green arrow on the Control Panel (COM/CTRL-G).

7. Press the Escape key to exit the Player window.

Tip! If you can't hear your narration on playback, it's either because it was recorded too low or the music sound track (Muddywater.aif) is too loud. It's typically easier and faster to reduce the music volume by highlighting its timebar and selecting Object>Attributes. In the Sound Attributes dialog, reduce the volume to 30% and click OK.

8. Play Scene-2 by clicking the green arrow on the Control Panel (COM/CTRL-G).

9. Press the Escape key to exit the Player window.

10. From Author's main menu select, File>Save (COM/CTRL-S). If prompted to include imported movies, choose Yes.

You can now export this Scene if you like. In fact, it's a good idea to export your Scenes (unrendered and rendered) as you go along. You can easily sequence rendered movies together in a new project and they make good backups. For scenes including multiple video clips rendering generates better results. Use the export tips from Scene-1. Example: Scene-2_sv.mov (5.5 MB, shortened).
